Jason and I met working on a super yacht in the south pacific, 2003. Many a time back then we sat on the fore deck watching the sunset sharing the same dream to one day own land. Needless to say I had no clue of the enormity of owning land. The most I had owned in years was a backpack. I also didn’t realise, given I’d decided on ocean travel for a few years at that point that the person next to me that I slowly fell madly in love with, knew a great deal about land, trees, plants, soil and the connection of all things on our beautiful home earth.
I was far removed at the time from recognising and living with purpose and passion and so together we have been on an immense holistic learning journey around food and nutrition, relationship health, soil health and the ecological impact, passion based/project based learning which is how our two girls now 11 and 14 have grown up, kiteboarding, hiking, surfing, snowboarding making the most of this incredible environment we live in.
So all these years later the dream is being realised. Landed Life is literally our place to land together with all the accumulated knowledge starting with a 1.5 acre grass paddock to build the dream. We four have been dreaming big together on paper and through discussions and curious questions. We share our ideas, discuss how it can work, including our dog, Angel, Simba the cat, 15 chickens and a sweet pony named Tricky – since he was born on Halloween.
Our values of love, freedom, trust, compassion and joy being lived out on this piece of paradise.
1.5 Acres or 6,049m in coastal Taranaki. It’s been farmed for generations and this piece has subdivided off the farm in 2022. The intention is to create a piece of paradise with native plantings, outdoor cooking, gardens and food production, simple yet very comfortable living spaces that are conducive and flow for an indoor/outdoor life.
